Icelandic actress and directress

My name is Bergdís Júlía but to anyone who doesn’t speak Icelandic I’m Julia.

I graduated from Rose Bruford College in the UK but at the moment I´m located in Iceland. I´ve lived and travelled around the world for work since I started acting school in 2010. It has always been my dream to work around the world and I hope to continue that way, widening my horizon.

My latest film I acted in is the award winning film, Everything in The End, directed by Mylissa Fitzsimmons. The film is now available on Amazon Prime Video. I’ve starred in numerous award winning short films, dubbed for the TV series Club Winx on Netflix and Stöð 2 as well as acting in numerous TV commercials, reading audiobooks and doing a podcast with my theatre company. On stage I´ve worked with different theatre companies both as an actress and a director.

I have a high passion in acting, directing and producing my own work. However in the past two years I rediscovered my passion for writing and currently I am writing TV series, an audio play and a stage play.

I run my own theatre company, Spindrift Theatre with 6 other power women whom I adore. Running my own theatre company has been extremely fruitful and artistically nurturing as we give each other the freedom to explore and play. There I feel I have space for other interests that I can use wherever the work takes me. At the moment we are touring our performance THEM and premiering Ástin ein taugahrúga - enginn dans við Ufsaklett, a chamber opera by Anna Halldórsdóttir and Elísabet Jökulsdóttir, which I directed.
